Artist Statement
My artistic practice is grounded in the creation of geometric abstract landscapes that explore the profound relationship between mathematics, symmetry, and the natural world. Through the use of line, color, and space, I aim to capture the delicate balance inherent in the universe, drawing inspiration from both the scientific principles of geometry and the organic forms found in nature. In my work, geometry becomes a language—a means of expressing the sublime qualities of the world around us, both seen and unseen.
Central to my artistic inquiry is the exploration of the interplay between form and space. I work across a range of scales, from intimate drawings and sculptures to large-scale architectural installations, creating immersive environments that provoke a sense of wonder and reflection. The structures I build, whether two-dimensional or three-dimensional, carry an energy that seeks to engage the viewer in a shared experience of transcendence. Through careful manipulation of line, repetition, and color, I create compositions that encourage a meditative, almost spiritual encounter with the work, offering viewers the opportunity to pause, reflect, and momentarily lose themselves in the rhythm of the visual forms.
My work is positioned at the intersection of the technological and the natural, navigating a space between the precision of electrical circuitry and the soft gradients of a setting sun. This duality reflects my broader inquiry into the human experience of the "ether"—the invisible forces that shape our perceptions and sense of existence. I aim to evoke a sense of the sublime, where the elegance of technology and the tranquility of nature coexist, inviting viewers to reconsider their own relationship with the world around them. The tension between order and chaos, structure and fluidity, is central to my work, as I seek to push the boundaries of abstraction to create spaces that are at once harmonious and thought-provoking.
In my teaching, I encourage students to explore these same themes of balance, symmetry, and space, emphasizing the interconnectedness of natural and constructed systems. I believe in fostering an environment where students can explore the conceptual potential of abstraction, using geometric forms not only as aesthetic tools but as vehicles for deeper philosophical and emotional exploration. I aim to help students develop their own visual vocabulary, guided by an understanding of how mathematics and nature can be woven together to create compositions that resonate both intellectually and emotionally.
As I continue to develop my artistic and academic practice, I remain committed to expanding the scope of my work, investigating new ways of integrating geometry with environmental and technological contexts. I strive to create experiences that both uplift and challenge, fostering an ongoing dialogue between art, science, and the transcendental aspects of human perception.
